CLIENT - CHARMAINE JOHNISE FOR SHOP CHARMAINE TV
Flick Inc. signed Charmaine Johnise of Black Ink Crew Chicago for a 6-Month Merchandise Endorsement Contract. The premise of a merchandise endorsement agreement is that Flick Inc. creates merchandise that aligns with the clients' pre-existing audience (ex. make up tutorials on youtube = lipgloss line). Flick Inc will source the products for the client, design the website and handle daily operations. The client is responsible for marketing (which is easy since it aligns with what they are already doing) and Flick Inc. keeps a percentage of each sale.
Through our relationship with Charmaine Johnise, Flick Inc created the brand Shop.Charmaine.TV in conjunction with her CharmaineTV brand and pre-existing youtube cooking channel. In our 6-month tenure, we produced an e-commerce website, 3 apron collections, a digital cookbook, a healthy eating challenge, launch event, pop-up shop and several holiday sales events.
CREATING THE PRODUCT
I was responsible for sourcing, designing and producing custom aprons throughout the course of the contract. In addition to designing the aprons, I also photographed the client in the aprons for the website and promotional purposes. We released 3 apron collections that had 10-15 aprons in each.
I was in charge of the creative direction, wardrobe and photography for the promotional photoshoot. The images were utilized on social media, the website, as well as the client's digital cookbook.
Flick. Inc. Designed, formmatted and published the digital cookbook Cooking with Char. It featured 25 pages of southern recipes and stories of Charmaine's love for food.
I created an e-commerce website for the Shop.Charmaine.TV brand using the platform Shopify. I managed all the orders, daily customer service as well as maintained the blog through our 3-month Brand Management Agreement.
Halfway through our merchandise endorsement contract, Flick Inc. acquired the Shop.Charmaine.TV brand through a management contract. Through the brand management contract, we launched an maintained the shopcharmainetv instagram channel, growing it to almost 10,000 followers in three months. We also maintained the blog on the shop.charmaine.tv website, designed promotional graphics for sales and other initiatives, as well as edited video footage from Charmaine's cooking videos.
THE LAUNCH EVENT
Upon the release of her first two apron collections and digital cookbook, I planned a launch event sponsored by Hennessy VS and Lawrence Fisheries. The three-hour event was held at the beautiful Lacuna Lofts' rooftop accessible open kitchen and featured sounds by DJ Mile High, an interactive QR shopping experience, light bites and signature cocktails. Attendees also had the chance to grab and autographed poster of one of Charmaine's signature recipes.
I was responsible for the entire scope of the event, from designing the print material, securing the sponsors, scouting and securing the venue, hiring staff and interns and planning the decor/flow of the event.
